About US
The Sugar Land Pecan Orchard was derived from a family of educators with a rich history of helping people fulfill their hopes and dreams of becoming successful individuals and building stronger families. Twenty years ago, our family purchased a five acre legacy property previously owned by Harold Morris. The five acres was apart of the Old Rose Hill Plantation and came with a beautiful set of purposefully cultivars pecan trees. In 2017, the orchard grew in size by another 150 Elliott and Oconee trees to handle future demands.
For twenty years our family graciously gifted these delicious pecans to family members, friends as well as neighbors. Individuals in the community were also free to pick from beautiful healthy Stuarts, Elliotts and Paper Shell trees. During the holiday season, our family would prepare gifts of pecans and pecan products for family and friends alike. Many of the gifts were in-shell whole pecans, pecan halves and pecan candy. Our delicious pecan candy recipe survived four generations beginning with the matriarch, Janie Leathers. The pecan candy has since gained glowing reviews from all of our friends, family and colleagues.
As our careers as educators come to an end, the interest in cultivating pecans grew with each passing year. As the demand for great tasting candy and top quality pecans grew. The family incorporated the pecan business to make it a permanent fixture for the family legacy. The Sugar Land Pecan Orchard was born as a dedicated family owned business that manage cultivating pecans from the orchard to the hands, gifts and tables in surrounding communities.
